As we move through the spring months, I’m struck by the many ways our community continues to grow — through new leadership, meaningful milestones, and the shared commitment that defines Smith Jewish Academy.
I’m pleased to share that Nathan Meyer will be joining Smith as our next Director of General Studies beginning July 1. Nathan brings nearly two decades of experience in education, along with a deep commitment to strong learning communities and roots in the Twin Cities Jewish community. I know you’ll enjoy getting to know him more in this issue of Inside the Pride, and we look forward to welcoming him to campus soon.
At the same time, we are preparing to say goodbye to Jackie Smith, whose leadership over the past four years has had a lasting impact on our school. From strengthening our language arts program through the Science of Reading and the Groves Literacy Program to guiding our ISACS accreditation and advancing faculty development, Jackie has helped lay a strong foundation for continued growth. We are deeply grateful for her dedication and look forward to celebrating her contributions at our annual meeting this evening, May 27, at 7 p.m.
Our Annual Benefit was another powerful reflection of this community at its best. With standing-room-only crowds and classrooms transformed into immersive, small-group experiences, more than 300 friends came “Back to School” for an evening that brought Smith’s curiosity, creativity, and connection to life in a distinctly grown-up way. Together, we raised more than $416,000 through 264 gifts in support of our students and our future —doubling the reach of past benefits!
Taken together, these moments reflect the strength of Smith Jewish Academy, a community that continues to grow, invest in its future, and show up for one another in meaningful ways.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
